New Zealand’s Gin Wigmore released her Mercury Records debut single, “Man Like That” this month. It’s the first single off her Man Like That EP and it’s featured in the Heineken TV spot promoting the new James Bond film, Skyfall. She has gone multi-Platinum in her home country and now she’s getting ready to release her sophomore album, Gravel & Wine in the US early next year. Gin recorded the album in Santa Monica, CA with producer Butch Walker (Pink, Cee-Lo, Katy Perry, Gavin DeGraw).
“Man Like That” is insanely catchy and Gin Wigmore has an old soul sound mixed with that raspy rocker grit that you don’t want to miss out on. Some may want to compare her to a young British artist that is no longer with us, but that just wouldn’t be fair to either of them. For the visually inclined, the music video has that retro meets modern feel that works very well with the song. See for yourself above.
