Check out our interview with pop artist, Jessie Malakouti of Jessie and The Toy Boys. Jessie talks to us about her fascination with dub-step, how she absolutely loves the smell of play-doh and what she would do to Ryan Gosling if she kidnapped him here. Be sure to watch her video for PUSH IT, above.
Originally from Southern California, Jessie and the Toy Boys was inspired by Malakouti’s experience singing, dancing, and acting her way through LA. After a short time living in Europe where she immersed herself in the underground club scene, Jessie and the Toy Boys was finally born. What she has created is a sound that brings listeners to the next sonic dimension of electronic-rooted pop music. The first single, “Push It” (featuring a playful rap interlude by Yelawolf), combines an urgent club bassline with vibrant, sixties-spiked girl-group colors. Combine that with Jessie’s sex-kitten vocals and rock-diva qualities, and the song is irresistible.
Listen to a clip of “Push It” as well as remixes by DJ Skeet Skeet and Dirty Freqs on Jessie and the Toy Boy’s Facebook page here. Also available to stream is “We Own The Night” which has been featured as part of The CW’s prime time lineup promotional campaign. Both songs will be released on iTunes on February 14th.
