MOVIE TRAILER: Sausage Party

Warning: Not for kids! Sausage Party is the first R-rated CG animated movie. Brought to you by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the movie is about a sausage, along with a group of grocery products, on a quest to discover the truth about their existence.

The film features the voices of Seth Rogen, James, Franco, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek. Check out the trailer and don’t forget to leave the kids at home on August 12, 2016!

Daddy (James Franco and Tim O’Keefe) to Release Debut Album, Let Me Get What I Want, on March 18, 2016

James Franco and and his former classmate from Rhode Island School of Design, Tim O’Keefe formed the duo Daddy back in 2011. Their project puts together music, film and installation art into a multimedia experience. Their latest release will be a full-length album and film entitled Let Me Get What I Want. It arrives March 18, 2016 via We Are Daddy/Kobalt. The songs are based off of Franco’s book, Directing Herbert White: Poems, which contains poems inspired by songs by The Smiths. Below is the track listing for the album.

We loved the sound of the English New Wave, especially the Smiths. The album was meant to reflect that, but with our own twists . The experiences of youth play so well into this sound. “Lime Green Dress” is about the terror and frisson of losing one’s innocence to the bad boy. –James Franco on the track “Lime Green Dress”

EVENT REVIEW: Hilarity for Charity – James Franco’s Bar Mitzvah

This year’s Hilarity for Charity (HFC) event was a Bar Mitzvah for none other than my personal favorite, James Franco. HFC is a charity that aims to get awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. Seth Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, founded it after her mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. This was their 4th annual event to raise money for the cause. Seth has stated many times that James has always complained about never having a Bar Mitzvah, so he decided to make that dream come true. Genius idea.

The night started with food from numerous food trucks and establishments and of course drinks with sponsors like Svedka and La Croix. There was HFC merchandise including a t-shirt that said, “Boys become men at Franco’s Bar Mitzvah.” Another nice touch was the temporary tattoos with cartoon pictures of James Franco and Seth Rogen made by Tattly.

Here’s a quick rundown of the events. The live show began with a Fiddler on the Roof skit followed by auctioning of items with help from Bill Hader. There was a magic show by Justin Willman, who was giving me flashbacks to the movie Now You See Me and comedy acts by Ron Funches (Undateable) and Kyle Kinane. Others in attendance include: Maria Shriver, Ben Feldman (Mad Men), Katie Lowes (Scandal), Steve Wozniak and Brooke Elliott (Drop Dead Diva).

Of course they had to stage a circumcision officiated by Rabbi Jeff Goldblum. A video also played, which showed Zac Efron who was portraying Franco’s foreskin. Charming, right? Haim came out to play “Hava Nagila” while the audience danced the Hora. But it was Miley Cyrus who got the party going with “We Can’t Stop,” and a cover of “Shout.” In total, HFC raised $2.5 million, an incredible feat by HFC all the while providing a memorable night for many.

Congrats on becoming a man, James!

MOVIE TRAILER: The Little Prince

The Little Prince looks like a winner!! Animated films have come a long way and this one looks like a combination of all the things we like to see in one: heartfelt story, some of our favorite celebrities doing voice-over’s (hello, James Franco), and visually stimulating animation. The voice cast includes: Rachel McAdams, Mackenzie Foy, James Franco, Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro, and Paul Giamatti. The film will be released this year, but as of right now there is no set release date.

MOVIE TRAILER: True Story

James Franco continues to crank out the films and we’re not complaining. The cancellation of The Interview is not stopping him anytime soon. The trailer for True Story, based off of the memoir by Michael Finkel, featuring Jonah Hill and Franco was released today and it looks insanely good. Most people recognize Hill and Franco from their comedic films, but both of them have starred in some noteworthy dramas and this looks like one to watch out for! True Story will premiere at Sundance Film Festival next month and have a limited release beginning on April 10, 2015.

MOVIE TRAILER: The Interview

On October 10, 2014 we will be graced with the film, The Interview starring besties James Franco and Seth Rogen. The basis of the film is that the CIA recruits Dave Skylark (Franco) and Aaron Rappaport (Rogen) to assassinate North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. The two are not the brightest human beings and thus the comedy ride commences.

In an interesting turn of events, North Korea has threatened the US over the release of this film. I guess they didn’t see This Is The End.

MOVIE TRAILER: Good People

Being a major James Franco fan, I always try to keep up with his new releases. The latest, Good People also stars Kate Hudson. Naturally I thought this was going to be a rom-com knowing Hudson’s M.O. Surprisingly though, it is more of a suspense thriller.

Franco and Hudson play a couple who are in debt, but things start looking up when a tenant in their complex is murdered and they discover some major cash in his apartment. However, everything turns for the worse when they find themselves the target of someone who is trying to recover the stolen money. Doesn’t sound too original, but I have hope that Franco and Hudson can make it entertaining. Check it out for yourself above!

James Franco Opens Acting School In Los Angeles

Ever wish that you could showcase your acting skills to James Franco? Or better yet, be in one of his films? Well, if you live in the Los Angeles area your dreams could come true. Today, Franco announced that he teamed up with Playhouse West to create Studio 4, The James Franco School for Actors. Pretty freakin’ awesome, right?

Studio 4 will offer Meisner Technique classes from beginning to advanced levels. Instructors include: James Franco, Brian Lally and Val Lauren. James will also be involving his Rabbit Bandini Productions company. Meaning students who show promise in the classes will be handpicked to star in his movie projects. So cool. In addition, he’ll bring in friends to do Q & A sessions. I don’t know about you, but this has me wishing I was an aspiring actor. So if you can pay $300 a month, live in the North Hollywood area or are willing to make the commute, apply here.

MOVIE TRAILER: Veronica Mars

Listen up, Marshmallows! The trailer for the Veronica Mars movie is out. Veronica (Kristen Bell) is back to rescue Logan (Jason Dohring) (what’s new?) and to attend her high school reunion. Crazy things are always happening in Neptune! How awesome does that trailer look? I loved the VM series and actually got to see a sneak peek of the film. Although I am not allowed to say anything about its content, I will say that I’ll be seeing it again when it hits theaters. The fan-funded film is set to release on March 14, 2014.

SHORT FILM: THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS – ‘City of Angels’

THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS released a short film called City of Angels that was directed by their front man, Jared Leto. The video features Alan Cumming, Ashley Olsen, Corey Feldman, James Franco <3, Juliette Lewis, Kanye West, Lily Collins, Lindsay Lohan, Olivia Wilde, Selena Gomez, Shaun White, and Steve Nash. Along with all of those celebrities, there are interviews with hopeful stars—in particular, Hollywood Blvd street performers. Each interview is heartfelt and everyone discusses how Los Angeles has made their dreams come true and for some, has shattered them.

I loved everything about this and not just because I live in LA. From the great group of people featured to how beautifully they captured the cityscape of Los Angeles, all the while weaving in their song, “City of Angels”,  everything represented the city perfectly. I hope they consider making more of these and Jared should really continue directing. Whether you’re a fan of L.A. or not, this is a cool video to watch.
