First of all, I have been dying to see The Killers live. I mean, who hasn’t? These guys have cemented their status as one of the top rock bands of this generation. Tickets for these guys can be hard to come by and so the moment Jimmy Kimmel announced their free concert, I was having a major freak out. Needless to say, I was present at this unforgettable televised event. They played two nights on the show, but I only attended the very first night.
I’m sure they get this all the time, but The Killers killed it. They sound just as great as their record and you really can’t keep your eyes off of them. The band was pumped from their first note until their last. They played 6 songs and let me tell you, they flew by. I, along with everyone else there, was so into it that when the music stopped we were a little outraged. They were generous playing six tracks since the average seems to be about four at most for Jimmy Kimmel concerts. Of course, this is left to the discretion of the artist, so if you get more than four songs, then they are giving you a treat.
They put on an electrifying set which included: “Shot At The Night”, “All These Things That I’ve Done”, “Read My Mind”, “Runaways”, “When You Were Young” and the now classic, “Mr. Brightside”. Not too shabby for a free show especially when you are getting quality musicianship.
To make things even more fantastic some of the guys, including Brandon Flowers, came out after the show to meet fans. Most got autographs and a lucky few got pictures, how cool is that? I have to say, if this is what I get for a free gig, then I really need to get my hands on tickets for their next tour.
