The Artists Den is coming back with their sixth season of “Live from the Artists Den” with fabulous performances from top acts of today. On June 4, 2013 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, Imagine Dragons performed a 90-minute set for 900 invited fans. To say it was the best show of the summer so far would be an understatement. These guys have taken over the music charts and getting to see them perform live, let alone for free, had everyone buzzing. The moment Imagine Dragons stepped on stage we all knew we were in for quite the show. Lead singer, Dan Reynolds has such a powerful stage presence. His intensity on each and every track had the audience enthralled. The heavy drumming was explosive and really pronounced the sound of their entire setlist.
They played fifteen songs including their hit singles, “It’s Time” and “Radioactive”. We actually got to hear “Radioactive” twice and Dan had the nerve to apologize for that. I think I can speak for everyone in that room and say we would have heard the entire set twice if they had wanted to do so.
They had balloons drop towards the end, but other than that there wasn’t a whole lot of special effects for the stage and for that I’m grateful. Imagine Dragons don’t need all the little extras that some bands or artists need. They are capable of putting on an incredible show with just their talent. If there is one band you need to see live this year, it should be these guys.
The full set list included (in order): “Round & Round”, “Amsterdam”, “Tip Toe”, “Hear Me”, “Cha-Ching”, “Rocks”, “Radioactive”, “30 Lives”, “Bleeding Out”, “Demons”, “Hang Me Up to Dry” (Cold War Kids cover), “Standy By Me” (Ben E. King cover), “Underdog”, “On Top of The World”, “It’s Time”, and “Nothing Left To Say”.
Be sure to watch the episode on August 8th, 2013 on PBS. Check your local listings for times.
