A free One Republic concert? Thank you very much Jimmy Kimmel, don’t mind if I do. One Republic is one of the hottest bands in the industry right now and catching them live can either be quite pricey for most or impossible for some. But Jimmy Kimmel Live has taken care of that with their outdoor mini concert series that gives fans a chance to see some of their favorite artists up and close at no cost. The ticket process can be a matter of luck, but once you got those you are set to go.
The wait in line was just like any other show and instead of music playing to keep us entertained they had a screen showing the actual Jimmy Kimmel Live show. Soon enough the band took the stage and they didn’t just sing one song, they sang five of their hit singles including (in no particular order): “If I Lose Myself”, “Apologize”, “Feel Again”, “Good Life” and “Secrets”.
When it comes to stage presence, Ryan Tedder doesn’t try too hard, but rather he just exudes talent effortlessly. All the guys went on stage and did their thing. Ryan interacted with the crowd by making direct eye contact with fans (it is crazy intense!) and later by jumping into the crowd whereupon dozens of cell phones and cameras were jammed in front of his face. He took everything in stride and didn’t seem fazed by a thing. His vocals were fantastic, as expected, and the band sounded outstanding.
This show was great because even though it was about an hour ordeal we got to hear One Republic’s most popular songs. We may not have gotten a full-on concert, but as far as condensed shows go this was perfect. If you get the chance to check these guys out, go for it. They know how to put on a solid show.
