Will.i.am released his music video for “#thatPOWER” featuring Justin Bieber. In true will.i.am fashion it is crazy, futuristic and quite cool. Love the dance moves, the scenery and that car is UH-mazing.
I’ve had “#thatPower” on repeat since it first came out. Even if you aren’t a fan of will or Biebs, you know it makes your head bounce. Watch the video above to see all that coolness. Besides, where else would you get to see a Bieber hologram?
Psy‘s follow-up single to “Gangnam Style” is here. The single, “Gentleman” is definitely catchy and the video is a bit more scandalous compared to Gangnam, but we all knew he had to amp it up with this release. Psy penned the lyrics and reunited with co-producer, Yoo Gun Hyung who also produced “Gangnam Style”.
The video was just released today and it’s already at 4 million+ views. What do you think, does Psy have another hit on his hands?? I’m digging it.
Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling on a cover of “Radioactive” from Imagine Dragons has to be one of the coolest collabs in the young music scene yet. Both acts have been causing a stir in their respective areas of music and putting them together was a genius move. Lindsey is an incredibly talented violinist and Pentatonix has brought a capella groups into the limelight.
“Radioactive” is my current favorite song from Imagine Dragons (that entire album has been on repeat for me) and these guys put a cool new twist on it. It’s also nice to see Kevin go at it on the cello again (check out those YouTube videos!). The music video has a cool feel to it and seeing what each act has done on their own, this was a nice venture for them to try out.
Thenewno2 is coming onto the US music scene quite strong as of late. They formed in 2006, but didn’t go on their first US tour until 2009. The band is g-r-e-a-t and not just because of Dhani Harrison, but I guess that too. The band as a collective whole create a smooth rock sound that has this endearing haunting quality to it (listen to “Another John Doe“).
It’s no wonder why they were chosen to do the entireBeautiful Creatures soundtrack. They recently released their new single, “Never Too Late” which is off the soundtrack for the new teen-sci-fi-romance flick (almost another Twilight, but not really) and it just doesn’t get old. Have a listen above and get hooked.
Obsessed. That’s exactly how I feel about this song. I can’t get enough of it. Twenty plays a day? That’s nothing. I’ll probably have to seek out help soon, but until then you all must listen to this. I actually don’t even remember how I came across it to begin with, but I’m sure glad I did. The song is called “This Head I Hold” by LA duo, Electric Guest. Which goes to show how many extraordinary local artists I must miss out on all the time. Luckily, there’s YouTube. I was just so impressed with how this track just comes to life. I can’t even explain it, you just have to experience it firsthand. It’s got a bit of a retro-Motown sound that’s been revamped for this century. Check it out above!
The Wanted have decided to release the fan version of the “I Found You” music video after fans have been begging for months. The video, which was originally shot in August of last year, was filmed in Los Angeles and featured many real-life fans. I may or may not be one of them. The video is quite awesome with a Beatlemania theme done in the style of the movie That Thing You Do. However, the ending is pretty classic and knowing these guys it is completely possible to have really happened. Enjoy the shenanigan filled video above, but be warned—there is extreme fangirling throughout. Oh, and did I mention that they look uh-MAZING?!?
Olly Murs is making the U.S. crossover with his catchy song, “Troublemaker” featuring Flo Rida. I posted his video for “Heart Skips A Beat” awhile back and since then I’ve been a fan. He was the runner-up on the sixth season of X-Factor UK. Since then he’s been sharing his time lately between the U.S. and the UK for promotion.
This video was released a couple of months ago and is a fun flirty tune. His voice channels a certain famous frontman and you’ll know who I mean when you hear it. Yet, it is still distinct enough to be an Olly original sound. He’s wearing his trusty suspenders and even Flo Rida’s appearance on the track gives it a good boost.
Olly has blown up in the UK, so if you’re in NY, Chicago or LA, you’re in luck. He’s playing a show in each of those cities this month, so catch him while you can.
SoCal rockers, The Bolts released their newest video for the “The Truth” this month. The band’s Fall EP is out now and will be followed up with their debut album, Wait ‘Til We’re Young, set to release on February 12th, 2013. They will celebrate the release of the album at their show at The Roxy on February 16th, 2013. In the meantime, watch the video for the fun pop-rock track above. It reminds me a bit of Donnie Darko, minus all the creepiness.
British pop-rock band, Lawson released their video for “Learn To Love Again” this month. This is the fourth single off of their debut album, Chapman Square and just like the others I love this song. The video is a lot darker than most of their other videos, but otherwise it’s simple. The band has had their last three singles hit the top 10 on the UK charts and now Lawson is getting ready to embark on their mini-U.S. tour in January. For tour dates, go here.
I learned about SEEED on a trip to Germany a few months ago. I was continually getting peeved at how radio overseas has American Top 40 playing everywhere and I wanted to hear some authentic music from that country instead. I told my annoyance to a bartender in Berlin and next thing I knew it the music video for “Dickes B” by SEEED began to play. Not only is it super catchy, but the video was awesome. You can say I was instantly hooked.
Now back home, I decided to look them up again and found that they released another song, “Augenbling“. Like the first one, I have absolutely no idea what they are saying (at least not until halfway through), so if it’s anything shady–sorry about that. Also, the video is even better for this one. They manage to add a modern look to a vintage style in their manner of dress, the cars used and the scenery. Even the dancing is slick. These guys might be on the old side, but boy do they have some moves. Watch the video and give it a chance, you might find yourself pleasantly surprised like I was.
